Dr Nishmi Gunasingam is a consultant gastroenterologist and hepatologist with extensive experience in both public and private practice. She is committed to providing exceptional care for patients with digestive and liver conditions, with particular expertise in managing complex cases and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.

Training & Experience

Dr Nishmi completed her gastroenterology training at St Vincent's Hospital and St George Hospital, Sydney. Most recently, she spent the last five years as a consultant gastroenterologist at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, where she also established Regional GI, a busy private practice servicing the Riverina.

International Fellowship

Dr Nishmi undertook an advanced fellowship at King's College Hospital, London, developing subspecialty expertise in endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) of complex lesions.

Teaching & Research

Dr Nishmi has published research in international peer-reviewed journals including NEJM Evidence, and has previously served as a Local Examiner for the RACP. She was formerly a lecturer and subject coordinator for Gastroenterology in the Master of Medicine program at the University of Sydney, and continues to teach medical students through the University of New South Wales and Notre Dame University.

Do I need a referral?

Yes, a referral from your GP or specialist is required for consultations. This ensures you are eligible for a Medicare rebate. Referrals are valid for up to 12 months.

Is this a bulk-billing practice?
